As Pokemon Go sparks its popularity over the past week since its launch time, Pokemon trainers have turned to social media to share where they found some of the most awkwardly placed gyms.
Pokemon gyms are places where the trainers gathered in real life to battle their little monsters in the game.
Social media users have pointed out some of the places they’ve encountered playing the game.
A twitter user discovered a gym on top of the Westbro Baptist Church and identified the name of gym’s owner called “LoveIsLove”. The org decided to fight for its Pokemon gym, recruiting Jugglypuff to help.
There have been multiple reports on a sub-reddit, Reddit users share their discovery of the gym in the middle of the White House, where some have specualted that the Vice President Joe Biden playing Pokemon Go in the White House.
Twitter users have also gazed over the discovery of a Pokemon gym in the center of the Pentagon, and a New Zealand duo have discovered a Pokemon gym out at the open sea while kayaking.
But one Pokemon trainer discovered a gym atop a memorial for victims of yellow fever in a viral tweet that garnered more than 4,000 likes.
It recently discovered that the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington D.C is a site of a PokeStop hub, where trainers can get in-app goods.
But it turns out that the Museum had to ask people to stop playing Pokemon Go inside, museum officials said.
“Playing Pokemon Go in a memorial dedicated to the victims of Nazism is extremely inappropriate. We are attempting to have the Museum removed from the game,” Andy Hollinger, the museum’s director of communications, said in a statement to ABC News.
“The Museum encourages visitors to use their phones to share and engage with Museum content while here. Technology can be an important learning tool, but this game falls far outside of our educational and memorial mission.”
