A South Korean man facing an alleged investment scam in his country denied entry at the Philippines’ Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) and later commits suicide in the said airport.
According to Cherie Mercado, Transportation spokesperson, identified the man as An Sang Kwan, who based on their data arrived in the country early Thursday.
Mercado said the SoKor national came in the Philippines through his flight from Taipei, Taiwan and was denied entry by the Philippine Immigration.
Quoting the report of the Police investigating the incident, Mercado said an airport crew found the lifeless body of Sang inside the exclusion room where passengers denied entry wait for their respective flights, at 7:28 p.m.
The official said in an interview of a local media outfit, the Korean national used the strap of his shoulder bag and tied the other end to the hook found behind the door of the cubicle.
“Korean embassy representative en route to NAIA (to check on the situation),” Mercado said in a statement.
Citing sources from the Bureau of Immigration, Mercado said the Korea Interpol and Korean Embassy in Manila asked Philippine authorities to bar Sang’s entry so he can be deported to face his cases.
Sang scheduled to be fetched by a team of Korean authorities, The Korean was married to a Filipina.
