Prince William, as first member of the royal family, has made history when he appears as front cover for a gay magazine, Attitude.
William appears on UK gay magazine Attitude, July issue, and speaks out against homophobic bullying and mental health implications associated with it.
The landmark cover came about after Prince William invited the gay magazine to bring members of LGBT community to Kensington Palace and listen to their experiences of bullying and the negative effects of it for their mental health.
The caption on the cover says, “No one should be bullied for their sexuality or any other reason” indicated beside his name.
Prince William told Attitude: “No one should be bullied for their sexuality or any other reason and no one should have to put up with the kind of hate that these young people have endured in their lives”.
He urge anyone that are being bullied for their sexuality to look for someone they can trust, saying “You should be proud of the person you are and you have nothing to be ashamed of.”
Prince William and his wife Kate signed a book of condolence at the US embassy in London for the victims of Gay Club Massacre in Orlando that left 49 people dead.
