The first historic journey of the Philippines to grab ticket to Rio 2016 Olympics begins with their first match against France in Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Manila, Philippines.
The first match were orchestrated by France, utilizing their height advantage and experience in the basketball tournament, grabbed the lead of the game and landed the its first win.
The game of two teams was been tight, but as the France wanted to close the game and recorded 93-84, in favor of the latter who named as top 5 best team in world’s basketball league.
Gilas ranks 28 was led by naturalized player Andray Blatche, Asia’s best point guard Jayson Castro and Filipino big man June Mar Fajardo.
On the other hand, France was lean on by NBA stars Tony Parker, Boris Diaw, and Nicolas Batum.
During the game, the Philippine’s lead man, Andray Blatche limps pain and goes down. But Terrence Romeo waken the crowd by triple scores and rose the team’s spirit.
The ceremonial toss before the match was spearheaded by the Philippine president Rodrigo Duterte, who attended the first game to give support for the national team.
