Consuming any harmful foods, it can slash few hours off your life. With the advancement of modern living, most of the foods we eat are manufactured, genetically re-engineered, and processed. Being busy, people start to rely on instant meals and spend lesser time cooking a much healthy meals.
We should start doing conscious efforts not only by researching, but also by changing our bad eating habits on fast foods, junk foods, and the like. It doesn’t happen overnight but it can be done with hard work and discipline.
Beware no. 1 – when we eat foods that are “acid-forming”, they cause our blood to become acidic. Acidic blood means “thick blood”, means, “slow-moving” blood that reduces the effective function of carrying nutrients to every parts of our body.
Some examples of acid-forming foods: Animal protein, dairy products, deep-fried foods, junk/processed foods, oily foods, medication, foods that have artificial additives, flour & sugar products (e.g. cakes, biscuits, pastries, doughnuts) soft drinks and alcohol.
[For alternative sources of calcium, choose seeds, nuts, and vegetables like broccoli, cabbage, carrots and cauliflower. For infants, if breast milk is not available, substitute it with goat’s milk, rice milk, or almond milk.]
Beware No. 2 – Soda/Carbonated drinks. A can of soda/carbonated drink contains up to 15 teaspoons of sugar, 30-55 mg of caffeine, loaded with artificial colors, flavorings & preservatives. It has nothing but zero nutritional value. Numerous side effects are associated to soda because it contains aspartame.
Aspartame ingestion includes brain damage, diabetes, decreased vision, memory loss, heart palpitations, shortness of breath, and many more.
Beware No. 3 – Prescription drugs. Unfortunately, medication is an acid-forming and causes blood to thicken. The immunity system is compromised. Better to talk to your physician to reduce medication intake.

Beware No. 4 – Refined sugar. This kind of sugar is lethal for human consumption because it has been depleted of its life forces, vitamins and minerals, rendering it “empty.” If this sugar is not required by the body, it is deposited in “storage” as fats.
Beware No. 5 – Table salt. This is the sodium chloride, an inorganic form and is extremely toxic to the body and causes the body to retain fluid. High intake of this substance thickens and stiffens arteries and increases the risks of strokes, and cardiac failure.
Beware No. 6 – White Flour Products. All the good substances (bran & germ) is removed from flour during processing. Then it is bleached with a chemical called “alloxan”, a bleaching agent similar to Clorox. White flour makes your blood sugar rise more than refined sugar.
Beware No. 7 – Meat Products. We know that meat is high in protein and iron, and is good for the body. However, commercially produced meat, whether chicken, beef, pork or lamb, have received hormone treatments. Sadly, antibiotics are also injected on to these animals—all in the name of higher profits.
[Try to avoid beef and pork, or consume no more than three portions a week. The better options for protein are fresh water fishes, beans, lentils, bean curd or whole grains. Try to eat organic as much as possible.]
Beware No. 8 – Vegetable Oil. These includes oils like corn, soy, linola & canola, but after refining & processing, these becomes oxidized resulting in the formation of transfat and damaging free radicals (this process is called hydrogenation).
[Better alternatives are coconut oil, olive oil (virgin or extra virgin), and grapeseed oil]
Beware No. 9 – Fast (fried) Foods. Scientific research has found another cancer-causing substance called acrylamide in foods which are found in French fries, potato chips, and junk snacks. Acrylamide is produced when foods are browned or burnt, cooked or processed using high heat. Such method includes frying, barbecuing, baking, and even by microwaving.
[And so, you must cook your foods properly—choose to steam, stir-fry, or blanch. This way, the foods will not contain oxidants as you do not burn the food.]
