President Rodrigo Duterte delivers his first-ever State of the Nation Address and ensured his countrymen that his administration will be a clean and transparent government.
In his one and a half hour report to Filipinos, President Duterte reaffirms his promised during election campaign to run “trustworthy” government and said he inked an executive order establishing Freedom of Information as part of the crusade.
The executive order of Duterte opens transparency to the public scrutiny in all information of the executive branch.
Duterte also declares a Unilateral ceasefire to the country’s leftist groups, CPP-NPA-NDF, and said peace talks are now on the table.
The chief executive calls to end the decades of war and rebellion, he said his government is striving for long lasting peace in the Southern part of the Philippines.
“All of us want peace!” Duterte said in his SONA at the Philippine Congress.
Duterte said in his report that the government is set in strengthening counter-terrorism programs amid the series of terrorist attacks in Germany and USA.
The nation address of the President concluded by asking his countrymen to join in the journey in eliminating drugs and corruption in the Philippines.
