It has been said that Hindus revere cows, as a symbol of life, including the liquid nourishment they provide, distilled urine from female cows has become a hot commodity in India.
The cow urine brings as much cash as the other kind of cow juice, Bloomberg reports.
Along with the help and efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, it helped to boom the business. Holistic practitioners say that the urine, as what they called it ‘gomutra‘, can present health benefits where the research team a month ago said that they had found gold in the urine of the country’s what they call Gir cattle, Indian Express noted.
An employee from the company called Patanjali Ayurveda told Bloomberg that a liter of cow urine can sell for up to $1.50 which are also available on e-commerce websites such as Amazon.
There was a coordinator at an Indian cow research group said that more than two dozen home remedies can be easily whipped up by the said cow urine.
However, one of the most challenging parts of being a cow urine collector was that when to know exactly nature’s call is about to strike.
“The attendants take clues from the animals’ movements and try to identify patterns in urination,” one cow urine business owner told Bloomberg.
“We prepare 20 tons … a day and still can’t meet demand,” the Patanjali director says of his company’s urine-based floor cleaner.
Still the value of cow urine isn’t a great incentive for keeping unproductive cows until their dying day, since their lifespan reached about 15 years, though most of them stop producing milk years earlier.
