The Chinese government issued a white paper which contains settling negotiation on the disputes of China and the Philippines on South China Sea.
According to the document handed by the State Council Information Office, either history or international law perspective, the Philippines’ claims over Nansha Quandao is “groundless”.
The document also said that the core of the territorial dispute was caused byvthe Philippines’ invasion and illegal occupation of some islands and reefs of China.
Also stated in the white paper, the multiple rounds of consultations on the proper management of disputes at sea was held by the two countries, which reaffirmed in a number of bilateral documents.
The paper also said that the Philippines has violated its standing agreement with China to settle the relevant disputes through bilateral talks, when it brought the case to United Nations.
The paper suggests Philippines has violated China’s right to choose means of dispute settlement of its own will as a State Party.
The Chinese government firmly believed that the International Tribunal has no jurisdiction over the territorial row case.
The white paper, consisting of more than 20,000 Chinese characters, explained that Nanhai Zhudao (South China Sea Islands) are China’s inherent territory, saying the activities of the Chinese people in the region date back to over 2,000 years ago.
The document firmly said that China abides by the purposes and principles of the Charter of the United Nations and is committed in upholding and promoting international rule of law.
At the Press time, the Philippine government has not yet respond or have any comments on the document issued by China.
