Newly-elected Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte’s communications team are now ready to utilize the latest technology in bringing forth a memorable first State of the Nation’s Address (SONA) for the country’s new leader.
Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Secretary Martin Andanar & Cannes 2016 award-winning director Brillante Mendoza in his film “Ma ’Rosa” as the SONA director led a communications briefing & ocular visit today at the House of Representatives (HOR), which will be the venue of the July 25 SONA.
Andanar’s vision for Duterte’s first SONA is to make it “solemn” and similar to the State of The Union (SOTU), which is the annual speech given by the United States’ (US) President.
During the briefing, it was said that some 14 cameras–including robotic cameras–will be used by state media during its SONA coverage.
As for Mendoza, he pitched that remote-controlled camera drones be used for the event as well.
In fact, Mendoza, winner of the 2009 Cannes Film Festival Best Director award, inspected the HOR’s plenary hall and checked for possible camera angles during his visit.
Also attending the communications briefing were incoming House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez’s daughter, Paola Alvarez as well as other PCO officials.
Many Filipinos worldwide are now waiting the 1st SONA of President Duterte, which other calls as “Scrap SONA” because of Duterte’s “Man of Action” personality. He will not promise and state unbelievable/fake achievements, but he will urge Filipinos to see the change and become the change.
